Austin - April 2013

Day 4 - Monday

Desirae and I decided to drive back into Wimberley to do some exploring for our last day. While were at Cypress Creek Cafe on Friday night, a few locals told us about a couple spots to check out. We started at Jacob's Well, which is a natural underwater cave and artesian spring. To dumb it down significantly, it's a giant natural well in Cypress Creek. It's pretty incredible. It's a very short, easy hike to get to from the parking area (I would actually call it more of a quick nature walk than a hike). You can swim in the Well area, but although it's extremely deep (someone told us no one has ever made it to the end of the cave), it's not huge in diameter. But people do swim in it, jump off the rocks into and play in the water. I will say that when we were there the surrounding water, which was extremely shallow (maybe a couple of feet in some areas) had quite a bit of moss and algae. The Well itself however, was beautiful. This was definitely a site worth seeing. After that we went to check out Blue Hole, and we were glad we did. Blue Hole is basically a swimming hole in a regional park, but it is outstandingly beautiful.
